At Waterproof Tours we find it important that next to creating your inspiring journey, we also contribute to a sustainable Suriname. We do this in various ways, but an important step was to achieve the Travelife Certified sustainability label in October 2016. We also support a couple of social causes and strive to expand our efforts in the near future. Working on sustainable tourism in Suriname, we contribute to a positive growth that benefits everybody.
JA Foundation
Waterproof Tours Suriname supports the JA Foundation. The JA Foundation sustains projects in Suriname for underprivileged children (orphans). We, and many volunteers as well as ambassador Jörgen Raymann, believe in this cause.
We have faith in this foundation because of its small-scale and personal working methods. All funds end up at the projects they are meant for. And volunteers from the Netherlands travel at their own expenses. There are also volunteers in Surinam who support the cause. The foundation is identified as ANBI (Algemene Nut Beogende Instelling), which means donations are tax-deductible.
For every trip performed by Waterproof and for every tailor-made trip we design, we donate € 2,50 from our net profit to the JA Foundation.
Waterproof empowers her staff to donate his/her yearly Christmas present to the JA Foundation.

Together we stand strong
Waterproof regularly supports social activities for the benefit of social foundations and organizations; Matoekoe, Annie Creche, Stichting Wiesje, Stichting Betheljada, Teke leli Moengo.
We collect (childrens) clothes and toys which our colleague Ken Doorson offers to bring to Moengo or nearby villages.
