This round trip Authentic and Sustainable Suriname offers inspiration and shows that it can be done differently! In this trip there is a lot of contact with the locals and almost exclusively small-scale accommodations and trips are included. This way you stay in homestays, guesthouses and small-scale hotels. During this trip you do not return to Paramaribo every time, but the tours and accommodations are combined with each other so that you really travel around and therefore you can see and do as much as possible. The trip has a slow travel speed where you will stay at a location for several nights. The local entrepreneurs, owners and guides receive you hospitably, are open for a conversation and / or take you on the road! You will get to know the inhabitants, but also the nature, culture, and history of Suriname in an authentic way.

Program

Day 1: Arrival – Paramaribo – stay at Hotel Eco Torarica

After arrival at the airport you will be taken by transfer to Paramaribo where you will stay in Hotel Eco Torarica. A nice centrally located hotel with a beautiful garden and small swimming pool with a view on the Suriname River and within walking distance of various food and beverage outlets.

Day 2 – 3: Paramaribo – stay Hotel Eco Torarica – City bike tour Paramaribo

You will explore the center of Paramaribo by bicycle under the guidance of a guide. In the historic center you can still see many colonial buildings (UNESCO), behind which there are interesting stories. During this trip you will pass the biggest sights in the center.

Day 3: Commewijne – Plantation House Mariënboschh

The most authentic place to feel and experience the history of Suriname! The lively stories of the local owner ensure that you will never forget this experience!
Traveling by bicycle offers freedom and makes it easier to make stops along the way and speak with the locals.

Day 4 – 6: Commewijne – Boutique Hotel Peperpot

Located on the oldest coffee and cocoa plantations along the Suriname River and adjacent to the forest edge of Peperpot Nature Park where you can learn more about the plantation, nature and wildlife during your visit to the park and Education Center.

Day 7: Paramaribo – stay Eco Torarica – Cacao workshop

• During the cocoa workshop you will receive an explanation of the Surinamese skrati and the tree-to-bar processing of cocoa; from the care of the fruit on the tree to the processing of the beans into the final product.

Day 8: Paramaribo – stay at Hotel Eco Torarica – Free day

Today you have a day off. Discover the city on your own or relax by the poolside.

Day 9 – 12: Upper Suriname – Maroon culture – Gunsi

Special small-scale resort with local guide, experience close to culture and nature.
Adjacent to the village allowing quick contact with local people

Day 12 – 14: Stopover at Palulu Jungle camping

At this special atmospheric eco campsite in the middle of the Jungle savanna, you can enjoy the peace, nature and the wonderfully refreshing cola-colored creek. You spend the night in a tent with mattresses and bed linen, neat sanitary facilities on the grounds.

Day 14 – 17: West Suriname – Raleigh Falls Voltzberg

The adventure starts with a drive on an unpaved road and then a beautiful boat trip to uninhabited West Suriname, the highlights of this trip are the beautiful long jungle walk to the top of the Voltzberg, waterfalls and rapids.

Day 17 – 19: Wanica – Guesthouse Little Paradise

Special small-scale accommodation on an unpaved road in Domburg (25 km from Paramaribo). The guesthouse is simple but attractive. During your stay, a rental car is included to explore the area. During this stay you will experience the countryside life in Suriname.
