Danpaati literally means: The Island at the village of Dan. Danpaati River Lodge is a community-based and sustainable destination in the upper Suriname River. Their goal is to provide development opportunities through tourism activities to the nearby villages and its citizens. Specific projects include childcare and elderly home care. Most of the resort staff are local villagers; agricultural goods, fish and meat are all locally bought and local woodcarvers sell their work as souvenirs here. There are 3, 4 and 5 day, fully-organized tours available. The trips offer a varied program, and besides that there are optional activities possible. Accommodation on the resort consists of comfortable two person cabins with a private veranda and a hammock. The meals served are of good standard and (alcoholic) drinks are available at the bar. There is enough time to relax and enjoy the surroundings, cool down in the swimming pool or take a dip in the river. A unique feature to this resort is the traditional massage you can get and recently the resort also features a yoga and meditation platform by the river.
