Knini Paati is an island in the middle of the Ferulasi Sula. It got the name from the Saramacan word “kindie” (knee) and paati (island). This resort is run by local workers from the surrounding villages. The combination of a small scale resort, comfortable lodges, a swimming pool and a bar makes it a wonderful place to be!
Kninipaati is located at the Upper Suriname River about 45 minutes by boat from Atjoni. During the stay at Knini Paati there are activities included in the program. Take a walk through a nearby Maroon village where you will experience the life of the inhabitants by the river. Learn how plants are used for medical purposes during a jungle walk. The evening is perfect for a beautiful boat trip on the river, listen in silence to the sounds of the Amazon forest and spot the red eyes of the caimen. There is also enough time to take a dip in the pool or the sula (rapid) and to relax in a hammock on the terrace of your lodge.
