Jungle Lodge Palumeu is located in the habitat of the Indigenous tribes: the Trio and Wajana. It is only 1 hour by airplane from Paramaribo. You will meet the original inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest and you will learn and experience about their culture and traditions. It is very interesting to see how they live in harmony with nature. During this trip you will stay in comfortable jungle lodges, with an amazing view over the Tapanahony river.On request of the local inhabitants the resort was set up to receive tourists within this area. The whole lodge is managed by local people and they make their own tour programs, which will make you feel very welcome.
The tour program is variable from day to day, because of the water level. Examples of different trips are: boat trips over the river and hikes through the Amazon rainforest. You will also visit the village Palumeu twice, where you will experience local music and local art and you can learn how to shoot archery. This trip offers a great combination between the Indigenous culture and the wonderful nature in the deep forest of Suriname.
