In contrast to many other countries, there is a lot of group travel in Suriname. We do not mean that you are always travel in complete groups, but destinations within Suriname are often organized as a whole day trip or multi-day trip from Paramaribo, which are carried out in groups. During our individual tours different travel groups will combined on these tours, and this will be interspersed with stays at resorts, homestays and hotels, within and outside Paramaribo. So you travel regularly during your trip with different groups.

Are you looking for a nice round trip through Suriname but would you prefer to travel as private as possible with your own family instead of in a group with an (inter) national travel group? That is certainly possible, this trip is a good example. It doesn’t always have to be much more expensive to travel privately.

During this private Suriname round trip you mainly travel alone with your own family, so without other guests! During the tours you travel with your own transport and you have a private guide at your disposal. During the trip you will stay in varied accommodations from simple to comfortable. Precisely because of the variety in comfort during this trip, it makes a good affordable trip.

Program

Day 1: Arrival – Paramaribo – stay at Hotel Eco Torarica

After arrival at the airport you will be taken by private transfer to Paramaribo where you will stay in Hotel Eco Torarica. A nice centrally located hotel with a beautiful garden and small swimming pool with view on the Suriname River and within walking distance of various food and beverage outlets.

Day 2: Paramaribo – Private City bike tour

You will explore the center of Paramaribo by bicycle under the guidance of a private guide. In the historic center you can still see many colonial buildings (UNESCO), behind which there are interesting stories. During this trip you will pass the biggest sights in the center.

Day 3 – 4: Private tour Jungle camp Maratakka

Stay in a camp at the riverside where no other tourists come, with a beautiful pontoon on the river. You can swim or fish here, but also take a boat trip and an exciting forest walk. The jungle is still unspoilt here, so there is a great chance of special animals and plants!

Day 4 – 6: Saramacca – Bloemendaal apartments

• Small-scale accommodation near the village of Groningen on the Saramacca River. Relax by the pool or visit the quiet village of Groningen, or take a nice optional boat trip such as, for example, early in the morning for spotting animals.

Day 6 – 8: Commewijne – Plantation Resort Frederiksdorp

Stay on the recently renovated plantation Frederiksdorp, this has become a beautiful resort with many possibilities. Relax by the pool, enjoy the local dishes, take a boat trip through the beautiful swamps or visit the adjacent plantations
Traveling by bicycle offers freedom and makes it easier to make stops along the way and chat with the locals.

Day 9 – 12: Upper Suriname – Maroon culture – Private tour Gunsi

Special small-scale resort with local guide, experience close to culture and nature.
Adjacent to the village allowing quick contact with local people

Day 12 – 13: Brokopondo – stopover Bergendal Resort

Stay in comfortable atmospheric houses in the middle of the Surinamese jungle, a comfortable stopover in the journey. The employees at the resort are from the local communities in the area. This adds to the resort’s charm and cultural experience.

Day 13: Private trip Jodensavanne

Visit the first Jewish settlement in Suriname from the 17th century. This became a prosperous community with more than forty sugar plantations. The remains of the synagogue and cemetery have a special location on a hill.
